new social-circular project

Nobody knows what the future holds, but it is clear that we are at a tipping point and at the beginning of a new era. Digital technology is evolving at lightning speed, social positions and geopolitical relationships are shifting, and the climate is also changing visibly. Our planet is warming and, especially in our cities, heat is becoming a growing problem. Buildings retain heat, streets heat up and cooling is not a matter of course for everyone.

Therefore, starting in 2026, das Kunst will start a new project in which we work on visually attractive greening of facades in neighborhoods and districts. This way we contribute to more cooling and a higher quality of life for residents.

Within this operation, young recognized newcomers take center stage. In collaboration with social partners and other organizations, we developed a ten-day training for these young newcomers. During this training, participants strengthen their language skills, learn to use their imagination and develop practical STEAM skills, with the aim of being able to participate fully in the realization of façade greening.

das Kunst takes this step with the support of a broad network and a well-prepared team. In the fall of 2025, we reinforced our team of artistic collaborators of graphic designers and visual artists, with two full-time architects.

We will start in 2026 in Gentbrugge (Ghent) and Borgerhout (Antwerp). From February to the end of May 2026, our team of artistic collaborators in both cities accompanies young newcomers during the ten-day training. In May, we will realize the first projects together in Ghent and Antwerp.

Thus das Kunst is working with young recognized newcomers and partners on a new social-circular model to cool buildings. Starting in March, we also involve local residents through local short chains to collect the right plants for the first projects.
